Joe Krieg

Joe Krieg was a participant in the first workshop with Helmut Nieberle in 2002. Since completing his studies, he has been a successful bandleader with his own CDs. He now passes on the experience he has gained on the road and in the studio as a teacher. Jazzpodium also became aware of him and featured him in an interview.

That's why I'm all the more pleased that Joe Krieg has enriched his equipment with a Sonntag J17X Standard. The lively and delicate response and the acoustic power and liveliness expand the range of his musical language. He says about the guitar:

“This is exactly what I was looking for, this is what I was missing”.

VITA

Born in Würzburg, Joe Krieg studied jazz guitar at the Würzburg University of Music until 2002. Always on the lookout for musical news and discoveries, his travels took him to New York, where he took lessons from renowned guitarists such as Mike Stern, Peter Bernstein and Pat Martino, as well as to Vienna, where he says he was inspired by the creative energy of the city.

His practice of various styles makes him a sought-after sideman in the jazz scene as well as for rock-pop CD productions, cover bands and big bands. (Gruppe 3, Mellow Mark, Birgit Süss, Hubert Winter, Würzburger Jazz Orchester and many more). Joe Krieg has been releasing albums under his own name with his quartet since 2009. The Jazzpodium described Joe Krieg as an “unusually impressive addition to the progressive mainstream scene” and the Süddeutsche Zeitung reported in a portrait on glowing reviews for the first album. He can look back on almost 20 years of teaching experience. He currently works as a guitar lecturer at the University of Würzburg and further details about Joe Krieg can be found on his website.

Joe Krieg plays Emily by Johnny Mandell/Johnny Mercer with his Sonntag J17X Standard (Solo) and J18H Brigit (comping).
