Accessories for Jazz Guitars
Glenn Cronkhite Gig Bags
Glenn Cronkhite, the founder of the former high-end gig bag manufacturer Reunion Blues, is once again crafting his coveted and popular bags made of leather and Cordura. Although the “Reunion Blues” name was sold to a Chinese company, meaning he can no longer produce the bags under that name, he has rehired his former employees. This allows him to once again produce gig bags of the same high quality as before, and he promises delivery within two to three weeks. Prices are available upon request from Sonntag Gitarrenbau; custom-made bags are also available.

F-Hole Plugs
Most archtop guitarists are familiar with the problem: Depending on the volume and room acoustics, any guitar with a soundbox can produce feedback between the amplifier, the body, and the strings that’s difficult to control. Acoustic jazz guitars—especially those built to the highest standards with hand-carved tops—are often particularly susceptible to this.
Experienced jazz musicians respond to this by keeping the volume moderate and positioning the amplifier optimally. But sometimes you find yourself at gigs or sessions where factors like the band’s overall volume and the placement of the equipment are virtually impossible to control. Or perhaps you simply don’t want to sacrifice the sound and the lively response you’re used to from an acoustically built archtop, even in a louder band setting.
For these situations, I offer soundhole covers that can be custom-made to fit the F-holes of my guitars perfectly. These “F-hole plugs” can be “installed” in a matter of seconds and removed just as quickly. No modifications to the guitar are necessary. The plugs drastically reduce the likelihood of feedback in louder playing situations. This makes the acoustic sound quieter without losing its fundamental dynamic character, which continues to be reproduced by the amplifier. The guitarist can now play more freely, since he no longer has to worry about muting the unfreted strings.
Metal Sonntag Design Tailpiece
I can offer this tailpiece as an alternative to my ebony tailpiece for each of my models. It is available in silver and gold.
I’ve been carrying this idea around with me for years—someday I would design a metal string retainer. After nearly 30 years of Sonntag guitar making, I’ve finally succeeded!
Available now for a new Sonntag guitar or as a retrofit for €330.
