A Sonntag Archtop forRobben Ford

Robben Ford loves Sonntag guitars

A few years ago, Robben Ford was on tour in New Zealand with Bruce Forman. During that trip, Robben had the opportunity to get his hands on Bruce’s J16H Ballade—nicknamed “Ruby” (because it was painted wine red)—and try it out.

Robben was so impressed by its playability and lively sound that the experience lingered in his mind for years. And so it came to pass that in 2020, Robben Ford ordered a Sonntag for himself.

At his request, I had sent him a J16 Weltklang to try out in Nashville. After trying it out for a while, however, Robben realized that he actually preferred an acoustic archtop, just like the one he’d tried out at Bruce Forman’s shop back in the day.

This guitar, an acoustic J17H Weltklang, is now complete in its raw form and just needs to be finished. Then I’ll be happy to send it to Robben Ford in Nashville.
