New Model: J17H Brigit with a fan-shaped fingerboard

There’s a new model in the Sonntag lineup: The 7-string version is now also available with a fan-shaped fingerboard.

To explain: The fan-shaped design results from two different scale lengths. The E string has a shorter scale length, while the A' string has a longer one. We’ve found that using scale lengths of 64.4 cm and 67 cm works best for this design.

The reason behind this is that the longer scale length gives the lower strings higher tension. As a result, they sound more distinct, clearer, and more powerful. This makes a lot of sense, especially on a 7-string guitar.

I actually intended to use the model in the picture as a display guitar. But Helmut Nieberle got to try it out beforehand and immediately fell in love with this J17H Brigit. So I just had to let him have it. But that’s no great sacrifice, because it’s in very good hands with Helmut Nieberle.

I’ll be building a new Fächer 7-string soon, though, and that one will become the official display model.
